Enjoy the surprises folded in the majestic Mississippi River Valley and Historic Bluff Country.  Glimpse what the first westbound settlers must have encountered as you wind along the Mississippi River, once designated as the western edge of the United States.

Join us Saturday, August 12, 2017 for one of the following rides of the Fifth Annual Apple Blossom Tour.

The 25 mile, 50 mile and 74 mile tours will have you bicycling along the bluff top overlooking the Mississippi River.  The challenging rolling hills and curving valleys are some of the best bicycling in the state.  This year the rides will start and end at Veterans Park on the north end of La Crescent, near the American Legion (509 North Chestnut Street).

If the challenging bluffs are not for you, the 15 mile ride to the west of La Crescent will be more to your liking.  Also starting at Veterans Park, this route is renowned for the tranquil landscape of farmland and apple orchards.

In the mid 1800’s, Minnesota was no place to grow an apple.  It was just too cold.  John S. Harris developed a strain of apple trees that could withstand the harsh winters.  His pioneering efforts brought native apples to Minnesota and helped to make La Crescent the “Apple Capital of Minnesota.”  Come see what all the fuss is about…
